Giro d'Italia Race Stage 1 Result

Team Columbia-Highroad undercut everyone to win Stage 1 of the 2009 Giro d'Italia Saturday, a 20.5km team time trial in Lido di Venezia near Venice.
Their time was 21.50, an average of 56.33km/h (35mph). Mark Cavendish is the overall leader of the race, and will wear the pink jersey into Sunday's 156km Stage 2 from Jesolo - Trieste.
Garmin-Slipstream finished second, just six seconds back. Lance Armstrong's Team Astana finished 13 seconds behind Columbia.
